Why Should I Buy Health Insurance?

Healthcare costs in America can be very high. Doctor visits, necessary lab tests, prescriptions, hospital stays, surgery—all of these things come with an expensive price tag, and sometimes are impossible to avoid. For those eligible to get healthcare it can help a great deal with these types of bills.

Some states are now requiring that all of their citizens carry some type of medical insurance, and if they don’t the state issues fines that they must pay until they obtain coverage. In cases where states insist upon coverage, choosing a policy can be cheaper than going without one.

Some doctors will not see patients who do not have health insurance because a large number of “cash” patients do not pay their bill when it is due. Physicians respond to this by only seeing patients with coverage; that way, they are paid for their services. In some areas, there aren’t any doctors who see cash patients; the only way to get treated is if you have coverage.

If able, it is important to get healthcare coverage because it can save money in the end and ensure that the individual gets the care he or she requires when they need it.
